For the year of 2010, we will study 4 character qualities a month, and practice them consciously and make them our way of life.
God is Love and this will be the foundation of all the character qualities. All character qualities is an expression of God's character. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" -John 15:13
Success is determined by relationships, and relationships are determined by character.
The Fruit of the Spirit best demonstrates the character qualities:
Love, Joy, Peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance ( Galations 5:22).
God's perfect love is required for true success in our personal life, studies,
marriage, family, finances, jobs and vocation. Vice versa, without God's love, we will not have the character qualities and power to break the bondage of addictions such as anger, lust, lying or stealing.
The most dangerous enemies are the unseen enemies of the soul: -
the pride and arrogance of the head
the greed and self centeredness of the heart
fear of failures and uncertainties of our hands
a lying tongue
God help us to have a pure heart, humble head, useful hands and a loving tongue and establish Agape Love in our lives - loving others (greater than faith and hope 1st Corinthians 13:3 ) is giving to the needs of others, so that we may glorify God and have our eternal rewards in heaven. It "beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things"- 1st Corinthians 13:7. You can give without loving but you cannot love without giving.
We can start by loving our family, loving our parents, loving your husband or your wife, and loving your brothers and sisters.
We can ask the Holy Spirit to guide us as we face daily tests at all levels such as:
Fiery trials ( anger or lust)
Infirmities ( sickness and physical limitations)
Reproaches ( scorn ridicule, rejection)
Necessities ( daily pressures and responibilities)
Persecutions( false accusations/ those out to make our life miserable)
Distress ( unexpected grief and sorrow).
We can produce the right responses:
Choose to be grateful - in everythng give thanks
Find reasons to rejoice- joy that comes from the Lord.
Cry out to God and pray for mercy and intervention
Do Good and Be zealous of Good works
God Bless you for reading.
